Our Genesis

We are five Moroccans friends who have been residents of Halifax, Nova Scotia for over a two decades. During this period, we have witnessed the Moroccan immigrant population in Halifax grow from just a few of us in the early 2000s to nearly 1,000 today. Led by Younes Anini, we decided to establish the Moroccan Society of Nova Scotia.

Our aim is to create a welcoming community and space to support both existing and newly arrived Moroccans in finding their way to a successful and fulfilling life in Nova Scotia, particularly in Halifax. We also aim to offer our youth a society where they can build connections and maintain their cultural heritage. Additionally, we strive to promote Moroccan culture, cuisine, music, history, and lifestyle within the province, ensuring that the rich traditions and vibrant heritage of Morocco are shared and celebrated throughout Nova Scotia.
